Dreaming and being

If you prefer a more leisurely pace, just make yourself comfortable on our sun loungers and take the day as it comes. And all of a sudden, your gaze will fall on the vibrant flowers in the meadow, and the bees, hard at work keeping our planet going. A ladybird brings childhood memories flooding back. Feel the breeze, marvel at the ethereal beauty of a butterfly. Be at one with yourself, bask in the joy of the moment, smile an inner smile and breathe a deep lungful of air as you gaze out over the mountains and the clouds rolling by.

That wonderful feeling of slowing down, relaxing and thinking only of the important things in life. Can you feel it already? That’s what your holiday here will be.

Adventuring we shall go

Val Gardena is, naturally, an incredible area to explore under your own steam. A few tips never hurt though – here are a few of the most popular summer activities in Val Gardena:

  • Hiking

Lace up your hiking boots, and head off into the great outdoors! The Dolomites around Ortisei are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, as such, are officially classed as one of the most beautiful landscapes in the worlds. Countless trails and paths lead the way up rocky mountains and through vast Alpine meadows – it’s an absolute paradise for explorers! All you need to do is choose your route: They range from well-trodden forest paths through to remote ibex trails and everything imaginable in between. And it’s not just the landscape that will impress you mightily: The cuisine and hospitality in Val Gardena’s mountain huts are every bit as fabulous.

  • Mountain biking/Cycling

Love a tailwind? If you want to bike the mountain slopes, there are numerous options around Ortisei, from the flat lands - spectacular nonetheless - of the Vallunga valley through to the challenge of the Sellaronda, one of the most beautiful MTB tours in the worlds. Over the past few years Val Gardena has earned itself something of a name as a mountain-bike hotspot, and the comprehensive infrastructure matches our reputation: There are repair stations and bike rental facilities in almost every village.

Your host Alexander is a passionate cyclist himself. He knows every trail, and will be delighted to offer you advice and head out on a tour with you himself once in a while. And he’s always happy to sit down and talk shop!

  • Mountaineering and climbing

Isn’t it incredible? The mountain that thousands of office folks all the world over only ever see as a screensaver, and you can climb it in person! We’re talking, of course about the star of all peaks in Val Gardena: The legendary Langkofel/Sassolungo, 3,181 metres highs, and a giant in dolomite rock and limestone.

If it sounds like a touch too much adrenalin for you, don’t panic: The route features fixed-rope via Ferrata sections, and the Val Gardena mountain guides are on hand at all times to accompany you. They also offer climbing courses for both children and adults - even Luis Trenker and Reinhold Messner had to start somewhere!

Bouldering fans and sports climbers will be in their element in Val Gardena, in the heart of the Dolomites.

The experienced mountain guides from the Catores mountain guide guild are always delighted to offer their assistance. Click here for more information.

  • High ropes park

The perfect therapy for all those who want to get over their fear of heights before heading out on their first summit attempt! And, of course, for all kids and kids-at-heart: 3,000 metres of steel ropes and nearly sixty platforms, ladders, spiral staircases and bridges soar above the rooftops of Ortisei, guaranteeing excitement and adventure for the whole family. Click here to take a look at the Col de Flam Adventure Park.

  • Swimming

What could be more refreshing? Wherever you are in the world, leaping into cool, fresh water means one thing: Summer is here! And Val Gardena is no different, as you’ll see at the Mar Dolomit outdoor and indoor pool complex in Ortisei, just a few short steps away from the Pra Palmer B&B. Or, alternatively, you can take a trip to the Völser Weiher/Laghetto di Fiè lake, just a half-hour’s drive from Ortisei, where you can discover a whole new side to Alpine life as you marvel at the views of the Schlern/Sciliar.

  • Paragliding

If you’re still thirsting for adventure after your bouldering excursions and the high ropes park, it’s clearly time to up the ante: Paragliding! The pilots at Fly2 offer tandem flights for adrenalin-junkies, flying fans and fearless adventurers.

Outdoor fun with kids

Our younger guests can run around to their hearts’ content on the hotel’s own meadow and in the neighbouring play park.

Our hotel also takes part in Val Gardena Children’s Weeks every June. In addition to the many discounted activities, there is also a variety-packed events programme for the heroes of tomorrow.

If you need more tips, we’ll be delighted to help – just call up and ask for your hosts, Carolin or Alexander.
